Introduction
Race equity in YEF evaluations
SOS+ evaluation (St Giles)
After an overview of the SOS+ programme and evaluation, presenters discussed the race equity considerations across the different stages of the evaluation. They reflected on considerations that were not able to be addressed and why, and highlighted activities planned/in progress and their learnings so far.

Emotion Coaching evaluation (Solace Women’s Aid)
After an overview of the Emotion Coaching programme and evaluation, presenters reflected on how they worked together throughout the evaluation, including the support provided by the YEF Race Equity Associate. They discussed some example opportunities that embedding race equity considerations presented, challenges they navigated and what they’ve learned so far.

Race equity in evaluations: Good practice and common challenges
Dr Fatima Husain, Head of Business Development, National Centre for Social Research, discussed how race equity should be embedded within quality assurance and ethics in evaluations, and provided practical prompts for reflecting on race equity at each stage of the evaluation. She also suggested broader ways in which funders and evaluators can reflect on race equity.
Assessing race in evaluation trials: Challenges, risks and recommendations
Sabrina Paiwand, Research Consultant and Doctoral Researcher, LSE introduced the importance of identifying and monitoring experiences of racialised participants in evaluations, and the challenges of doing so with the ONS ethnicity measure. She suggested several measures beyond ethnicity, along with their relevant considerations and example applications, concluding with next steps for evaluators.
Administrative data for YEF evaluations
Police and other administrative data availability and access
Mark Ellison, Manchester Metropolitan University, overviewed the development of the YEF Administrative Data Guidance and the data access process. He outlined available datasets for different YEF trial designs and walks through the access process using the example of local police data. He discussed strengths and limitations of the different datasets, and concluded with general recommendations and considerations for evaluators planning to access these datasets.
