What does this project involve

This project involves exploring the viability of establishing and evaluating a Summer Youth Employment Scheme (SYEP)in the UK, aimed at reducing youth violence by providing young people who are at risk of becoming, or are already, involved in violence with structured, short-term, paid employment during school holidays. Inspired by successful models in large U.S. cities, such as New York, Chicago, and Boston, the programme would seek to replicate positive outcomes observed in those regions, which have shown reductions in youth crime and improved community engagement among participants.
