What Does This Project Involve?

The Turnaround programme is funded by the Ministry of Justice. It provides targeted, voluntary support for children aged 10–17 who have had limited involvement with the Youth Justice System but do not meet thresholds for statutory intervention. With £56.5 million in government funding, Turnaround operates through 154 Youth Offending Teams (YOTs) across England and Wales. Its primary objective is to prevent future offending while fostering positive outcomes such as improved mental health, educational engagement, and overall wellbeing.

This funding enables YOTs to deliver customised, needs-led support, either directly or in collaboration with local service providers. The Turnaround programme’s adaptable structure empowers YOTs to tailor interventions to the specific needs and resources of their communities, ensuring support that is relevant and impactful for each child.
